I started my teddy bear making adventure in January of 1993 when, with an "empty nest" and a magazine with teddy bear patterns in front of me, I decided to try something new. Well, "Frankenbear" (as we now lovingly call him) was born and I absolutely loved creating him. I couldn't wait to make another and then another. I started designing my own patterns in 1995 and now have CHERBEARS patterns for sale along with the teddy bears. I started out selling my bears at local craft shows and now do Teddy Bear shows in the Toronto and Niagara Falls, Ontario area in the summer and fall.When my husband Bob and I opened our store, THE TEDDY BEAR ABBEY, in June of 2002, all the CHERBEARS had a perfect place to be displayed (our front porch was getting pretty crowded!!). Bob, who is a great support and my "head salesman" is also enjoying our new teddy bear life. Our son Rob designed our website and keeps us updated. Our daughter-in-law Emily has also helped out as she and Rob have done a few teddy bear shows for us as well.
